First year overview

Today on 31th December, 2016 the first year of the ALLIANCE project comes to an end. During the first period lots of achievements and activities related to ALLIANCE’s scope have been realized. Analytically:

  • Kick-off meeting, Riga, Latvia, 26-27 January, 2016. The meeting was organized by the lead partner, Transport and Telecommunication Institute – TTI (Riga, Latvia). The project partners are two internationally recognized research institutions – University of Thessaly – UTH (Volos, Greece) and Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (Magdeburg, Germany).
  • Training school within UTH’s Graduate Program during the 3rd Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility, Volos, Greece, 24-25 May, 2016. The training school concerned a number of selected lectures of the UTH Graduate Program entitled “Project Management Transportation and Regional planning” and was attended by 8 graduated students from TTI.
  • 1st version of ALLIANCE course materials on smart solutions for the interconnection of transportation networks.
  • “Train-the-Trainers” Seminar and “Young Researchers” Seminar, Riga, Latvia 19-21 October, 2016 (During the 16th International Conference on Reliability and Statistics in Transportation and Communication). Two members of the ALLIANCE Scientific Excellence and Innovation Assurance Panel, Ms. Inta Rozenšteine, Deputy Director of Department of Financial Management And Development, Ministry of Transport and Dr.Sc.Ing. Vaira Gromule, JSC “Riga International Bus and Coach Terminal”, Chairman of the Board participated in these events and gave a positive feedback.
  • Publications and promotion in international and national meetings and media. Among others, the scientific paper about Developing an Educational Program for Transportation across Regions: The case for Intermodal Connections for Latvia and the region was accepted for presentation in TRB meeting (Washington, 8-15 January, 2017).
  • 15 Deliverables have been submitted so far to the EC by the ALLIANCE partners. Six of them have been approved by the Project Officer while the rest are under review.
